JUAN PUENTE GÓMEZ

A BIT ABOUT ME

Juan Puente Gomez was born in Chiclayo, Peru in 1974 and lives and works in Barranco, a district outside Lima, considered to be the city’s most romantic and bohemian, being the home and working place of many of Peru’s leading artists, musicians, designers and photographers.

His work is primarily focused on the investigation of the relationship between nature and artifice, biology and construction, and how those notions are experienced and perceived within the context of our varied cultures, histories and present realities.

He is constantly after the use of different materials as a means of exploring and seeking new ground. It is a fundamental part of his practice to enter personal unexplored territory …… the materials trace his necessity and help to discover new arenas for his creativity.

The surreal atmosphere of his pieces is of a dreamlike, allegorical, symbolism of Peruvian floral nature – it is a symbol of effort and perseverance for happiness. Especially the Autumn season which provides Puente Gomez the perfect inspiration to cheer up his canvas with incredible leaf and cherry blossom art showcasing the beautiful colours of Peru.

His paintings also reflect the restless and youthful spirit of a man nurtured by a world that despite all the hardness of life, remains freshest of experience to bring bright light of penetrating beauty and meaning in his paintings.
