EDUARDO COCHACHIN

A BIT ABOUT ME

Eduardo Cochachin was born in Lima, Peru in 1977 From a young age his love for drawing, painting and nature grew until he studied at the prestigious National School of Fine Arts of Peru, graduating in 2002.

Upon completing his career, Eduardo felt the need to return to the sources as other teachers did. He investigates the cultural artistic manifestations of Peru and Universal art; this caused technical maturity and a style of its own. From an abstract, figurative style, Eduardo presents us with a proposal that revolves around nature and landscape, a bright colour scheme with strong contrasts applied on geometric planes.

Eduardo was selected in national and international competitions, his works are part of important contemporary art collections such as The National University of San Marcos (UNMSM) – Peru (2016), Universidad Chapingo Mèxico (2015) and the Foundation Luciano Benetton-Italia (2018), among others. It has 8 individual exhibitions. He is an artist who is in constant activity, producing by observing and traveling.

Eduardo’s landscapes are filled with tiny characters, small lines that suggest their solidity due to the tiny shadow, of bewildered appearance and helpless in the also suggested immense space that the canvas proposes. In some works, the landscape is only large strokes, like a stain, of different colours, which allude to the all-encompassing presence of painting as such. Floating on the support as great protagonists of the image.
