PERUVIAN ARTWORK

Peruvian art

All modern Peruvian art has its origins in the Andean societies, which inhabited the land we know of as Peru in pre-Inca times (before the 14th Century).

Peruvian artwork is heavily inspired by traditional Inca symbols and its culture, as well as the European renaissance. It is a dynamic mix of artistic movements and influences and includes vivid reflections of our lives – past and present – bringing the poetry of the complex world we live into canvas with vibrant colours and artistic subtlety. Peruvian art is rich in symbolisms, with strong metaphysical intentions, steeped in mystery and mysticism.

Today, Peru is home to one of the most extensive and varied art scenes in the world, which, over time, has been enriched by its various influences without losing its originality.
